Lisa Gibbons is a trial attorney and former prosecutor who practices in the area of general liability and casualty defense. With a master’s degree in forensic psychology and a strong criminal law background, Lisa focuses on the defense of psychological damages claims, effectively deposing plaintiffs that allege post-traumatic stress disorder and cross-examining their experts at trial.
A significant portion of Lisa’s experience throughout her career has involved civil cases brought on behalf of crime victims. Her civil litigation practice defending insured premises owners in cases alleging such crimes as assault, rape and murder draws on her background as an assistant district attorney in Kings County (Brooklyn), NY, where she was a senior trial attorney. Lisa regularly defends premises liability, Labor Law and Dram Shop claims.
Lisa came to Wilson Elser in 1994 after four years as an assistant district attorney. In 2004, she joined AIG’s Trial Skills Division with responsibility for vetting and recommending the company’s trial counsel. Prior to rejoining the firm in 2011, she had her own law practice focused on family law, adoption and criminal defense.
Lisa is an adjunct professor at Molloy College.
