The Recreational Marine Preservation Act of 2006, which was recently introduced in the United States House of Representatives, by Rep. Walter B. Jones (R- NC), proposes to establish a statute of repose for civil actions filed against recreational vessel manufacturers.  By statutorily defining the useful life of a recreational boat, frivolous product liability lawsuits against boat manufacturers will be significantly reduced.
