Andrew DeCoste concentrates his practice on insurance defense, assisting both domestic and London Market insurers with coverage determinations, claim handling, settlement negotiations, and bad faith avoidance. He also represents insurers in first- and third-party litigation, having successfully tried cases in various Louisiana state courts, securing verdicts well below his clients’ evaluated amounts. Andrew’s practice areas include complex litigation, first- and third-party commercial automobile/trucking liability, commercial general liability, directors and officers liability, and errors and omissions liability, as well as coverage defense. Andrew is growing his practice to include intellectual property, specifically in the copyright area.
Andrew joined Wilson Elser’s New Orleans office in 2022 bringing more than a decade of litigation and insurance defense experience. He started his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Orleans and Jefferson parishes, handling high-stakes felony cases. In 2018, he transitioned to civil defense, working as in-house counsel for a large domestic insurer. This experience enables Andrew to provide a unique perspective on the means best available to efficiently achieve clients’ goals through a successful defense.
