Andrew Z. Wu represents businesses in all aspects of civil litigation, with a particular emphasis on complex tort and general casualty, products liability, and transportation matters. His practice encompasses the defense of claims arising from catastrophic injury, multi-party disputes, premises and product-related incidents, motor vehicle collisions, and commercial transportation litigation. Andrew brings a methodical, detail-oriented approach to each case, leveraging his deep understanding of liability frameworks and regulatory considerations to develop effective defense strategies for his clients.
Before joining Wilson Elser, Andrew served as an Assistant District Attorney in both the Queens County District Attorney’s Office and the Kings County District Attorney’s Office where he honed the litigation skills that now form the foundation of his civil defense practice. As lead attorney in more than 75 grand jury proceedings, he developed a command of complex evidentiary analysis and case strategy—capabilities that directly inform his ability to manage high-stakes tort and products liability matters. In addition, as an ADA he argued five direct appeals, sharpening the appellate advocacy skills he continues to apply in his current practice of civil litigation defense, as well as advocated for hundreds of domestic violence survivors, cultivating a strong courtroom presence and an unwavering commitment to thorough case preparation.
Andrew's prosecutorial background provides a distinctive advantage in his current practice. His experience evaluating intricate fact patterns, coordinating multi-agency investigations, and presenting persuasive arguments before judges and grand juries translates seamlessly into the demands of complex tort litigation, where meticulous factual development and strategic positioning are essential.
