Alexandra Deplas provides legal counsel to clients across the art and intellectual property space in the creation, sale, licensing and display of art. She represent artists, collectors, buyers, sellers, insurers, gallerists, dealers, consultants and museums. Alexandra also handles copyright and trademark transactions and litigations for various clients, spanning big-name corporations to individual intellectual property holders.
Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Alexandra was an associate at a major insurance defense firm in New York City where she worked with domestic and international insurers on a variety of fine art and specie matters, and handled a variety of labor law, premises liability and personal injury claims. Her role involved all phases of dispute resolution and litigation, including conducting legal research; drafting litigation-related documents, pleadings and pretrial motions; managing investigations and discovery; and assisting with and attending depositions, hearings and other judicial proceedings.
During law school, Alexandra gained work experience in transaction- and litigation-oriented settings. In 2019, she interned with the Rackets Bureau of the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, where she worked alongside assistant district attorneys prosecuting labor violations, the criminal possession of controlled substances and counterfeit product distribution schemes. In 2020 and through graduation, Alexandra worked as a real estate law clerk, conducting due diligence and drafting complex commercial lending documents.
