Anna DeMaggio Associate




Anna DeMaggio concentrates her practice in insurance defense, transportation, construction and commercial litigation. She also maintains an overarching awareness of cybersecurity with respect to potential threats to her clients’ data and privacy matters. 

Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Anna worked as an attorney at a major Houston construction company, advising on construction law matters, contracts, claims and disputes. Her previous experience includes working in a Sugar Land, Texas, law firm, and before that Anna worked with contracts and immigration law matters in Chicago, Illinois.

Anna attended law school in Ukraine and earned her master’s degree at the University of Chicago Law School. She is fluent in French, Russian, Spanish and Ukrainian.

Representative Matters

Defended a stevedore in Houston, Texas, against a property damage claim for $1.5 million (the case settled for $200,000).

Defended the insured repair shop in Texas against a property damage claim for more than $500,000.

Drafted prevailing responses to motions to dismiss in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Drafted motions for summary judgment, motions to transfer venue, motions to dismiss and special appearance for the foreign corporate entities not doing business in Texas.

Represented a construction company and its insurer in a contract claim by a subcontractor.

Represented claimants in a COGSA property damage case.

Represented a pipe supplier in a contact, tort and warranty claim requesting more than $200,000 in damages.

Drafted and filed mineral owner’s and statutory liens against the debtor.

Negotiated construction contracts, including joint venture agreements, operating agreements, lease, subcontracts and master service agreements, owner agreements and specifications.

Drafted coverage opinions and reservation of rights for insurers.
