Camille Shora handles insurance defense, product liability, medical malpractice and general liability matters in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia state and federal courts. She has 17 years of experience, including litigation, trials and mediations, working principally with insurers. Camille also contributes to the firm’s profile by handling pro bono cases for select organizations.

Born and raised in France, Camille has worked with French and Canadian insurers, corporations and individuals. She also has assisted in cases involving French parties, including aviation, transportation and personal injury matters.

Camille travels extensively throughout Europe and other parts of the world. An avid marathoner, she channels that same drive and determination in her professional life. Camille makes it a point to ascertain her client’s expectations for a case and aims to reach that goal through a measured, professional work ethic and superior service.

Areas of Focus

Health Care Law
Camille has represented individual doctors and nurses as well as physician groups and practices, hospitals and clinics, nursing homes, rehabilitation and long-term care facilities in medical and dental malpractice lawsuits and board matters. Her clients include ER physicians, general and orthopedic surgeons, ophthalmologists, psychiatrists, OB-GYNs, rehabilitation professionals, internists, social workers, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, certified nurse assistants, and physicians’ assistants, among others. Camille has 12 years of experience with dental cases and has defended general dentists, prosthodontics, periodontists, endodontists and oral surgeons. 

In addition, Camille has tried several medical malpractice cases in state court and most recently obtained a defense verdict in a dental malpractice case. She often handles board matters and has represented professionals at informal and formal hearings before several boards. Over the years, Camille has addressed HIPAA issues, assisting health care providers with subpoenas for records or testimony, and worked with providers to help ensure their practice complies with HIPAA requirements, offering guidance in the drafting of forms and implementation of HIPAA compliance in the private office setting. Camille also has experience with Better Business Bureau and Consumer Protection claims and responded to HIPAA/OCR complaints. She is a presenter for several continuing education seminars on HIPAA-related issues and presents continuing education seminars before physicians’ groups. She is a contributor to Wilson Elser’s Medical Provider Expressions of Sympathy 50-State Survey

Construction Law
Camille represents architects, general contractors, engineers and subcontractors as well as their respective companies and firms in design and construction defect matters involving residential and commercial matters in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. Issues have involved contractual defense, indemnification, contribution and other risk transfer issues, and insurance coverage. She also has represented these types of clients in the defense of complex and catastrophic/ high-exposure personal and bodily injuries at jobsites, which have touched upon OSHA and site safety issues. She is a contributor to Wilson Elser’s Artisan/Construction Defect Law 50-State Review

General Liability
In the area of general liability, Camille has defended property owners and management companies in large-scale premises matters, including carbon monoxide poisoning and mold exposure. She also has represented various professionals, including appraisers and lawyers. Other representative clients include restaurants, food and beverage manufacturers, and retail stores and restaurants. 

Product Liability
Camille handles product liability matters for domestic and foreign distributors, manufacturers (including component part manufacturers), and retailers of general consumer goods, industrial machinery, and food and beverage products. Cases have included product design, manufacture and marketing matters, which often involve catastrophic injuries or wrongful death, as well as substantial economic claims. 

Toxic/Environmental Claims
Camille has handled several toxic tort matters alleging exposure to benzene, carbon monoxide, lead paint and mold. She has defended national manufacturing companies as well as restaurant chains and regional building owners and management companies with respect to these matters.
