Christopher D. Phipps Of Counsel

Christopher Phipps actively defends products liability, transportation, premises and general liability matters as well as D&O and professional licensing claims. He began his more than 30-year career at a Las Vegas firm where he served as lead associate attorney on a mass tort case, and later worked as insurance defense counsel for numerous carriers defending automobile, premises, professional lines and construction defect claims. In 2000, Chris relocated to Reno where he practiced as plaintiff's counsel in the areas of auto, premises, wrongful death, medical malpractice and workers’ compensation claims. From 2008 to 2017, before joining Wilson Elser, Chris worked at a firm specializing in civil litigation with a strong focus on the representation of business and insurance clients. Although he is now in our Las Vegas office, Chris continues to handle matters in northern Nevada as well as Las Vegas.

Areas of Focus

Product Defect
Chris actively defends designers, manufacturers and distributors in product defect matters. Recent matters include alleged design and manufacturing defects in a thermoplastic paint applicator machine, which allegedly caused severe and disfiguring facial burns, and alleged design and manufacturing defects in a manual standing wheelchair. These have included the full spectrum from minor traffic accidents to multi-vehicle highway collisions with multiple serious injuries and fatalities.
