Cynthia Butera has more than 20 years of experience in the areas of commercial litigation, contract drafting and negotiation, and corporate transactions. She practiced as a certified public accountant for five years before pursuing her legal career, which began as an associate at Wilson Elser in 1997 and included in her own practice before re-joining the firm in 2018.
She is highly experienced in accountants’ malpractice defense, aggressively defending parties in malpractice lawsuits and against claims by third-party users of accounting firm services involving a broad range of claims such as audit failures, security laws claims, failure to detect embezzlement and fraud, providing allegedly faulty tax or estate planning advice, and improperly valuing businesses.
Wilson Elser’s Accountants practice extends nationwide in state and federal jurisdictions, and includes representing accountants in arbitrations and mediations and before the ethics committees of professional organizations.
