David Morrow handles a diverse range of matters on behalf of insurers, including coverage and extra-contractual litigation, coverage advice, and defense of insureds, with an emphasis in third-party liability, and first-party commercial and personal lines claims. Prior to working at Wilson Elser, David advised and litigated on behalf of insurers at both national and boutique law firms. During law school, he interned for his constitutional law professor and the Western Law Center for Disability Rights (now the Disability Rights Legal Center). While in college he interned for the California Attorney General's Office in San Francisco and the U.S. Marshal Service in Washington, DC.

Morrow and Diaz Obtain Dismissal of Commercial Property Owner in Habitability Case

David M. Morrow (Partner-Los Angeles, CA) and Michael Diaz (Of Counsel-Los Angeles, CA) successfully defended a commercial property owner and trustee in a habitability action before the Los Angeles County Superior Court. The plaintiff, a tenant at the client’s property in Los Angeles, asserted that the leased property was uninhabitable and a nuisance, alleging breaches of contract and habitability, numerous statutory violations, and seeking attorneys’ fees and punitive damages. David and Michael initially obtained judgment on the pleadings and struck plaintiff’s claims for attorneys’ fees and punitive damages. Based on those orders, they then prevailed on a motion to strike the plaintiff’s complaint and dismiss the action, resulting in a judgment in the client’s favor and dismissal of the case with prejudice. David and Michael later defeated the plaintiff’s post-judgment motion seeking relief, preserving the judgment and securing a complete victory for the client.

Morrow and Stankowski Secure Dismissal in Design Malpractice Case

David M. Morrow (Partner-Los Angeles, CA) and James A. Stankowski (Partner-Los Angeles, CA) successfully defended a design firm and its owner in a malpractice and payment dispute. The plaintiff, a former client, asserted professional negligence, fraud and unfair business practices in connection with our client’s design of a cannabis dispensary in Hollywood, California. The plaintiff alleged that our client misrepresented its licensing and qualifications, and rendered deficient plans, causing the dispensary owners costly delays and replacement expenses. After two years of litigation, David and Jim obtained an order imposing issue and evidence sanctions against the plaintiff. Based on the order, David and Jim prevailed on a subsequent Motion for Judgment on the Pleadings, securing a judgment in the client’s favor and dismissal of the case with prejudice.
