Gillian Fisher devotes her practice to the defense of complex, high-exposure medical malpractice matters on behalf of several major area hospital systems, nursing facilities, and medical practices, health care, as well as entertainment-related law.

For nearly 25 years of practice, Gillian has defended hospitals, nursing facilities, and physicians in medical malpractice claims arising in numerous medical specialties from obstetrics, infectious diseases, geriatrics, cardiology, transplant, general surgery, orthopedics, and plastic surgery. She manages all aspects of the cases, including dispositive motions, negotiations settlements, and serving as trial counsel. She has tried several cases over the years, including the first assisted outpatient treatment (AOT) appeal, in New York Supreme Court, New York County.

Another important aspect of Gillian’s practice involves the representation of individuals in the entertainment industry, including the review and negotiation of contracts, negotiating disputes related to wages and discrimination, as well as handling issues concerning the rights of privacy and publicity.

Prior to law school, Gillian was a paralegal in the litigation department at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, where she assisted on the team headed by Arthur Liman in his role as chief counsel for the U.S. Senate’s investigation of the Iran-Contra Affair. She also assisted in numerous cases as part of the firm’s pro bono program. She also worked as a paralegal for the Chief Litigation Counsel at Reliance Group Holdings, Inc.

During law school, Gillian was an intern for the Honorable Richard F. Braun, as well as an intern at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. Between her second and third year in law school, Gillian worked at the Alaska Public Defender Agency in Bethel, Alaska, where she represented defendants from arraignment to trial under the state’s student practice rule.

Gillian was a former competitive figure skater and a nationally ranked skating coach with the Professional Skaters Association.

Today, she serves as a gold level figure skating judge appointed by the United States Figure Skating Association.
