Jeffrey W. Melcher Partner




Jeff Melcher, the regional managing partner of Wilson Elser’s Atlanta and Nashville offices, has more than 30 years of experience in commercial and insurance defense litigation. Jeff acts as regional defense and coverage counsel for numerous major liability, casualty defense, and D&O and E&O carriers. He has broad-based litigation experience, including successfully litigating defense and coverage actions throughout the Southeast and nationwide; representing clients across the medical and allied health care fields; defending trucking and transportation insurance claims; coverage and bad faith; environmental, toxic tort and product liability; the full gamut of real estate litigation and business disputes; and general liability, premises defense and casualty defense of all kinds. Jeff also has substantial professional malpractice defense experience, including claims against physicians and other medical providers, hospitals and other treatment centers; attorneys, accountants and architects. As well, Jeff has a wealth of appellate experience and has achieved numerous successes in this area.

Critical in this day, Jeff also has years of experience in employment law litigation. He has successfully defended employers in a wide range of employment claims, restrictive covenant litigation and employment contract litigation.

Obtained summary judgment in favor of plaintiff manufacturer in multimillion-dollar federal suit for property damages, business interruption and lost profits.

Successfully defended and resolved a half-billion-dollar D&O action against nationally renowned architectural firm, with zero personal contribution.

Obtained a dismissal of D&O action against officer of national restaurant chain.

Obtained summary judgment in major commercial licensing dispute.

Obtained summary judgment and attorney fees against major TV personality in defense of a bad faith/ fraud claim.
