Jennifer Heitman litigates and manages civil and commercial cases, comprising a wide variety of subject-matter areas, in state and federal court. Her experience includes issues associated with premises claims, security guard claims, ADA compliance, construction accident claims, motor vehicle claims and school supervision claims. Jennifer’s diverse base of clients includes hotels, restaurants, construction contractors, property owners and managers, municipalities and independent businesses. A skilled advocate, Jennifer provides keen insight to clients at every stage of litigation, from preliminary investigation through resolution by mediation or trial. 

Jennifer’s mindfulness of how litigation can affect public reputation is evident in her handling of lawsuits for numerous publicly held companies, national companies and school districts. Jennifer also understands the importance of early risk transfer and managing loss ratios. 

Jennifer’s attention to detail and ability to meaningfully facilitate her clients’ goals has led to successful assignments involving overseeing and managing national liability claim portfolios. Jennifer is always focused on providing high-quality, consistent work product, whether for a case or a transaction she is handling directly or a matter in any other jurisdiction that she is managing through colleagues and local counsel. Recognizing that all litigation impacts her clients’ business relationships and bottom line, Jennifer communicates frequently throughout the life of a matter and partners with each client to develop an appropriate, cost-effective resolution strategy. 

Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Jennifer was an assistant district attorney in Bronx County, New York.

Hospitality & Security
Jennifer’s representation of clients in the hospitality and security guard industries has provided a breadth of experience across different jurisdictions. She has successfully defended clients based on personal jurisdiction, forum non conveniens and choice of law issues. With regard to the hospitality industry, Jennifer has developed particular experience representing hotels, motels and other places of “public accommodation” in matters regarding compliance with Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). With regard to her representation of security guard businesses, she handles all types of claims that may arise, such as negligent security, premises liability, sexual harassment, defamation and slander, and breach of contract.
