Joseph Caldarera Associate




Joseph Caldarera defends against medical malpractice claims with a focus on long-term care and nursing home cases in state and federal court. 

Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Joe was a senior criminal defense attorney handling hundreds of felony cases at the state and federal level. He managed a criminal department of six people, and ensured that each client was properly represented. Joe had an opportunity to handle hearings and trials across all five boroughs. Earlier, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Brooklyn Special Victims Bureau, providing him with first-hand experience building and developing cases in preparation for trial. Joe had and to this day upholds a reputation for fighting tirelessly to achieve the best outcome for every one of his cases. 

While in law school, Joe served as vice president of the Brooklyn Law School Student Bar Association and president of the Italian American Law Students Association. Joe grew up in Staten Island, New York, and is actively involved in the Staten Island community, where he ran for federal office in 2020.
