Kate Coyne represents established businesses and individuals in all aspects of civil litigation. Her practice focuses on the defense of claims related to general liability, construction defect, construction site accident, products liability, automobile liability, premises liability, general negligence and other litigation. Kate has defended clients in those areas in a wide variety of settings, including against claims of catastrophic injury. She handles the initial contact with clients, discovery, depositions, dispositive motions and early resolution. Kate also handles a variety of professional malpractice actions and defense of lawyers and directors and officers, as well as coverage litigation.

Areas of Focus


Kate’s experience in the construction field is augmented by her pre-litigation career as a project coordinator for two national general contractors, during which time she coordinated the construction of big box retail stores and hotels from the bidding phase through receipt of the certificates of occupancy. She also has represented the general contractor and various subcontractors in a multi-building townhome/ condominium complex involving a broad variety of alleged defects. Kate has won summary judgment on behalf of contractors on both procedural and substantive bases, and she has represented general contractors and trade contractors in OCIP-covered projects, successfully steering them to resolution.
