Kristina M. Oropeza Of Counsel




Kristina Oropeza is an experienced civil litigator. Her practice touches on legal matters in the areas of complex business and commercial litigation, labor and employment, product liability, aviation accidents and general litigation. Through her practice, she has gained experience managing and handling all stages of litigation. Kristina has participated in successful trials and negotiated favorable settlements in numerous cases, including several high-profile matters for the City of Dallas and a number of national clients. She has mounted successful defenses in hearings involving complex employment issues for major corporations and has handled SEC investigations and security fraud law suits. She also has experience in business transactions, including analyzing contracts and drafting employment agreements.

In addition to handling general litigation and employment matters, Kristina focuses her practice on defending health care providers. Kristina and her team defend a broad range of health care organizations and medical professionals including long-term care companies, hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, physicians, EMTs, nurses, dentists, home health agencies, medical product manufacturers and drug manufacturers. Kristina handled cases involving alleged falls, wounds, dehydration, aspiration, pneumonia, medication overdoses, abuse and more recently, COVID-19 claims – to name a few matters over her 18 years of experience. She has tried numerous cases, most of which have involved defending long-term care facilities. Kristina handles all aspects of these litigation matters including taking and defending key fact witness and expert depositions; motion practice and mediations. She also handles all appellate matters that may arise from her trial court cases.

Kristina leads a team of experienced medical and long-term care malpractice professionals including attorneys, nurse paralegals and paralegals. With their combined intellectual capital, the team is able to develop successful medical- and nursing-related defense strategies, locate and prepare effective witnesses, uncover hard-to-find documents for discovery, leverage their regulatory knowledge to defend against document-weak cases and aggressively investigate allegations.

Kristina gained invaluable experience during her undergraduate years and in law school, including an internship with Texas Instruments and a judicial internship at the Texas Court of Appeals, Fifth District.
