Laura D. Shelton Of Counsel




Laura Shelton handles a wide variety of tort litigation in state and federal courts, including automobile and trucking liability, industrial accidents, premises liability, product liability, property damage, and general negligence ranging from minor collisions to catastrophic losses. Laura also deals with insurance defense and subrogation litigation for wrongful death and personal injury claims and lawsuits. 

With more than 20 years of experience, including first- and second-chair trial experience, Laura ensures that her clients are apprised of case value, liability and risk exposure, reserve setting, settlement recommendations and litigation budgets. Laura believes in providing her clients with innovative and customized strategic counsel to help them make fully informed decisions to resolve complex legal issues. She has zealously represented clients in hundreds of cases with success through settlement, summary judgment or trial. 

In addition to her current practice, Laura has experience in commercial law, consumer law, collections and probate, including advising clients on business entity selection, drafting and reviewing corporate documents and contracts, advising on legal issues such as employment law and noncompete agreements, and representing clients in commercial and collection litigation matters. She also has experience with non-subscriber litigation, as she represented a national waste disposal and trash removal services company that was a non-subscriber.

Laura served a judicial clerkship at the First Court of Appeals, where she honed her research skills and knowledge of the appeals process. She also has a demonstrated record of hard work, including graduating from college with honors in three and a half years while working part-time. She also took and passed the Texas bar exam while still in law school. Laura participated in mock trial competitions while in law school where she developed her advocacy skills, enabling her to competently represent her clients in any forum.
