Laura Rahman focuses her practice on toxic torts, with an emphasis on asbestos, benzene and silica. She uses her considerable interpersonal skills to connect with her clients and understand their goals and needs, which gives her a fast track to an efficient and effective strategy. Her realistic and direct communication style evokes trust and enables her to save valuable time and expense for her clients. Laura’s case management skills were showcased in her recent contribution to the Martindale-Hubbell Counsel to Counsel Magazine in its Brief Advice section on the topic of “What Metrics Should a Company Track, and Why, to Best Manage Its Litigation?”

Laura regularly offers her services pro-bono to help ease the way for children with chronic conditions. As the mother of a special needs child, she counsels parents in similar situations and, through Easter Seals of Greater Houston, helps to disseminate much-needed information and light the road ahead for many.

Areas of Focus

Toxic Tort / Asbestos
In her toxic tort/asbestos practice, Laura has defended manufacturers and distributors as well as premises owners, litigating matters relating to asbestos exposure in various contexts, such as chemical plants, commercial plants and buildings, powerhouses, refineries, residences, schools, shipyards and steel mills. She is familiar with the types of exposure sustained by workers in all fields. She defends companies involved in the manufacture and distribution of a broad range of asbestos-containing products.

Program Management
Program management is a dedicated practice area within the firm. In this role, Laura evaluates and investigates claims; offers opinions and manages counsel for insureds, budgets and litigation expenses; and makes reserve recommendations.

Product Liability
Laura defends companies involved in the manufacture and distribution of a broad range of asbestos-containing products such as gaskets, packing and sealing products, boilers, pumps, compressors, evaporators, joint compounds, household appliances, tiles and friction products. She has significant experience in defending personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits relating to asbestos exposure in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana and has brought many cases to a reasonable settlement. In addition, she has prepared numerous cases that ultimately received defense verdicts. Laura has an in-depth understanding of the state-of-the-art issues relating to knowledge in the medical and scientific communities and is well versed in the relevant medical and scientific literature and studies.
