Magdalena Perlman is an experienced civil litigator who focuses her practice on matters of general liability and casualty. Recognizing the increasing economic pressures under which our clients conduct their businesses, Magdalena uses her varied litigation experience to vigorously defend their interests by identifying and minimizing exposures to achieve efficient resolutions. Her skills in case analysis and strategy coupled with her tenacity often enable innovative and cost-effective resolutions of clients’ most complex legal issues.
Magdalena began her legal career with the New York City Law Department, Tort Division, in the Queens and Bronx offices with a heavy caseload defending the numerous city agencies in complex legal and factual claims involving premises liability, negligent supervision and motor vehicle accidents. She was promoted to Senior Counsel in the Bronx office, exclusively handling high-exposure police cases including state and federal claims. During her tenure, Magdalena settled cases at the pre-action, discovery and trial stages, and tried several cases to verdict. She also worked at a respected labor and employment firm where she handled a wide range of matters on behalf of employees and employers, with a concentration in employment discrimination, harassment and retaliation. She also represented medical professionals and hospitals in medical malpractice actions as an associate.

Obtained dismissal of actions arising from motor vehicle accidents involving New York City–owned vehicles operated by firefighters, police, corrections officers and other agency employees while responding to emergencies with lights and sirens, or transporting prisoners.
Obtained dismissal of an action involving governmental duty and a special duty by the NYPD to a spectator at a baseball game who was allegedly attacked by a third-party following the game.
Obtained dismissal of an action against the New York City Department of Transportation in a traffic signal motor vehicle accident where the parties alleged that the traffic signal was malfunctioning at the time of the accident.
Tried to a defense verdict and settled matters involving negligent supervision of students by New York City Department of Education employees and premises liability suits alleging a defect on a public sidewalk.
Obtained a directed verdict in an action involving a crime scene investigation and governmental immunity where a business owner claimed lost business revenue.
