Martin Ween has practiced as an associate, partner, and senior counsel with Wilson Elser for more than 50 years. Throughout his career, he has focused on drafting insurance policies, endorsements, and related agreements, as well as counseling insurers and managing general agents and brokers on all facets of the insurance market.

A major concentration of Marty’s practice has been representing professional liability insurance carriers in all types of coverage and liability matters, as well as insurers providing financial and fidelity bonding coverage. Through his considerable work with Lloyd’s, Marty has extensive experience and familiarity with the London insurance market and has developed close alliances with various Lloyd’s syndicates and brokers. For both London and domestic carriers, Marty has primary responsibility for managing, handling, and defending claims and litigation brought under insurance programs, covering a broad range of professionals, including mortgage bankers and brokers, architects and engineers, insurance agents and brokers, benefit plan trustees, translators, industrial hygienists, environmental consultants, telephone answering services, and labor unions.

Marty has particular experience with architects and engineers liability and has worked on one of Lloyd’s longest-running programs in this area throughout his tenure with Wilson Elser. He also has significant experience in ERISA matters, having managed programs for 30 years covering trustees and fiduciaries of employee benefit plans, including involvement in many seminal cases in the field. He has been involved with transactional matters in the architects/engineers and ERISA fields as well.

A frequent author and speaker, Marty has written articles on employee benefits topics for the New York Law Journal and has spoken at the Professional Liability Underwriting Society annual conference and New York State Bar Association continuing legal education seminars. He also regularly addresses insurance coverage and claims management topics before industry groups, such as the American Translators Association, American Industrial Hygiene Association, and Association of TeleServices International.
