Rebecca A. Young Of Counsel




Rebecca Young has broad litigation experience that includes trying cases in state and federal courts as first chair attorney. Rebecca’s experience includes successfully defending products liability and toxic exposure claims, complex mass actions, construction defect/design claims, premises liability, trucking and transportation cases, as well as comprehensive general liability and casualty claims.

Rebecca also has significant experience in employment law, litigating cases involving claims of race, age and disability discrimination, retaliation claims and claims of sexual harassment. She has also represented clients in legal disputes involving intellectual property agreements, non-compete agreements, general business disputes, as well as Title IX charges involving university faculty and staff.

Additionally, Rebecca has represented several clients in the medical field. This includes defending claims against physicians, nurses, and other medical care providers and treatment centers.   

Through her practice, Rebecca has achieved several victories for her clients at the summary judgment stage and during trial in notoriously difficult venues.

Representative Matters

Successfully defended housing authority and its board of commissioners against $40 million demand in defamation case. Obtained order of dismissal of all claims and order sanctioning plaintiff counsel for improperly contacting client’s employees.

Secured summary judgment for commercial bus company sued for negligence and wantonness following a tire blowout accident that resulted in multiple injuries and hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical expenses.

Obtained dismissal with prejudice of ADA claim alleging the employment of a hearing-impaired individual was wrongfully terminated; argued that the pleading demonstrated there was a legitimate, non-discriminatory reason for the termination, and used the termination letter referenced by the complaint to support dismissal.

Motion to dismiss granted on claims of slander and harassment alleged against insurance investigator. Also obtained voluntary dismissal of the remaining claims of outrage and wrongful intrusion by confronting plaintiffs’ counsel with evidence demonstrating the claims were completely unfounded and grounds for Rule 11 sanctions if not dismissed.  

Secured dismissal of wrongful death claims against business services company accused of negligently and wantonly causing the death of an employee by failing to provide a safe environment and alleging the client forced the decedent to work in violation of doctor’s orders.

Obtained summary judgment for a manufacturer of a chemical detection system in a multi-party toxic exposure action involving allegations of personal injuries related to overexposure.

Obtained summary judgment for a national residential and business security system and services provider in a complex fraud and unjust enrichment action.

Obtained summary judgment for a manufacturer and distributor of welding products in a mass action involving toxic exposure allegations from hundreds of plaintiffs claiming increased risk of cancer and physical injuries from inhalation of hexavalent chromium.

Obtained summary judgment for a manufacturer of material-handling equipment in a mass action involving allegations by hundreds of plaintiffs for property damage and personal injuries resulting from pollution produced by a Portland cement plant in a rural Alabama county.

Successfully resolved multiple high-exposure medical malpractice claims involving failure to diagnose and delayed diagnosis claims resulting in wrongful death.

Summary judgment obtained for orthopedic surgeon in medical malpractice case involving claims of permanent disfigurement and a demand for $5 million in compensation.

Obtained grant of dismissal on behalf of doctor accused of failing to properly diagnose and advise patient on foreign object discovered in her body following hysterectomy surgery. 

Summary judgment obtained on claims involving a manufacturer of trucking equipment alleged to have malfunctioned resulting in significant crush injuries.

Obtained summary judgment for a trucking and roadway construction company alleged to have wantonly caused permanent injuries to driver who lost control of vehicle due to dangerous roadway conditions allegedly caused by the defendant company.

Dismissal of co-employee suit filed alleging injuries related to fall from tractor trailer loading dock.
