Scott Wolfe is a seasoned litigator primarily serving as national trial and regulatory and claims counsel for health care, marine, municipal, security and transportation entities. Scott has overseen claims, litigation and regulatory investigations in the United States and Canada. He uses his considerable negotiating skills to promote early resolution and mitigation of exposure for insurers and their insureds. When it is in the best mutual interests of both to strategically litigate a claim to conclusion, Scott has the knowledge and experience to arrive at a favorable outcome.

His in-house experience with a national professional liability insurer makes Scott a highly respected and much-in-demand provider of efficient and effective insurance representation. Scott is a litigation and claims attorney who has handled all phases of national claims representation. He has been a trusted adviser to a national health care companies and advised their self-insured retention trusts.

Scott has represented corporations in many fields with claims and lawsuits of medical malpractice, product liability and general personal injury. He frequently has advised C-level leaders on many issues stemming from contracts to employment to regulatory matters. Scott has overseen litigation and regulatory investigations in 33 states and Canada and been involved with contracting, employment and other staffing matters in 43 states. He has been admitted pro hoc vice to practice in 17 states.

Scott has 26 jury trial victories in high-value, complex, multi-week cases. His trial and settlement success is a result of successful communication with clients, judges, juries, mediators and opposing counsel. He endeavors to identify troubling cases for his clients early in litigation and reach successful settlements when needed.

Health Care & Medical Malpractice Litigation
Having handled hundreds of health care and medical malpractice claims and lawsuits across the nation, Scott has tried 25 to verdict, winning them all. He has handled cases in every substantive area of health care imaginable across 35 states. These include representation of traditional physicians, hospitals and acute care facilities as well as allied health professionals, therapists, physician extenders, home health groups, independent assisted living and many other ancillary providers. He continues to be a national adviser to private, self-insured trusts in addition to managing health care cases for private insurers. 

Admiralty & Marine
Scott is a United States Coast Guard Master Captain for freshwater and saltwater and has commercial towing endorsements. He is one of the few attorneys in America with these credentials. Scott has handled injury cases for maritime workers as well as passengers and third parties in boating and ship accidents. He also has managed property and cargo claims for barge and ship accidents on the Great Lakes and Western Rivers. 

General Litigation
Scott regularly handles trial and pre-trial discovery in all types of general liability and general litigation for the firm’s clients. He also has tried commercial cases and business tort claims. Matters have involved personal injury, professional malpractice and property damage, and he has managed excessive force and wrongful arrest cases for municipalities, and battery and excessive force cases for private security companies. 

Investigation & Regulatory Law
Scott has handled internal corporate investigations for ethics violations, internal regulatory violation determinations and corporate practices investigations. He has faced off against government regulation investigators in in 17 states and the Provence of Ontario, Canada.

Representative Matters

Tried and won 25 jury verdicts in Illinois and Oklahoma, all in cases where the plaintiff asked for more than $1 million in damages.

Prevailed in a commercial litigation matter in a bench trial in Illinois.

Argued and won three appeals in the First District of Illinois.
