Shira T. Straus defends clients against a variety of general liability, premises liability, personal injury, motor vehicle incidents and property damage claims from inception to trial.
Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Shira worked at two regional, broad-based insurance defense firms focusing on NYS Labor Law, premises liability, property damage and other personal injury matters. She also has defended complex internet-based defamation/libel claims.
Shira has litigated and arbitrated complex proceedings, representing financial services executives in the financial services and banking industries, in matters related to post-employment restrictive covenants and contractual obligations. She also has arbitrated at JAMS, FINRA and the American Arbitration Association. Additionally, she has extensive e-discovery experience.
While in law school, Shira was awarded the Sindell Torts Prize, First Place in 2014 for her Student Note, “You’ve Been Doxed: Now What? Adapting & Reinvigorating the Public Disclosure Tort to Remedy Unauthorized Publication of Personally Identifiable Information Online.”
