Shirley Foster provides insurance coverage advice and defends insurance carriers in extra-contractual litigation, as well as rescission, contribution and declaratory relief actions. She offers significant civil litigation experience, including trials to verdict and other dispute resolution approaches, with the objective of driving satisfactory and efficient case resolution for her clients. Shirley’s professional legal experience also includes eminent domain, inverse condemnation, construction, general liability and medical malpractice defense. 

Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Shirley defended national insurance carriers from allegations of first-party bad faith while focusing on property and casualty insurance matters at an AmLaw 200 firm. She also served as Insurance Counsel for the Nevada Division of Insurance where she enforced and prosecuted regulatory compliance and practiced administrative law pertaining to NRS Title 57 (Nevada’s Insurance Code).

Shirley served as a Judicial Extern at the Oregon Supreme Court and clerked in London, England with a distinguished barristers group practicing international insurance law. She also clerked with the United States Attorney’s Office in San Diego, California.

Representative Matters

Persuaded courts to grant summary dismissals in litigated personal injury and product liability case matters where the facts presented did not support the allegations.
