Sumona Sikder handles general liability and complex, high-exposure construction accident, aviation, premises liability and security matters involving personal injury and property damage claims. Whether advising clients on the investigation and handling of claims, developing and implementing litigation strategy, or negotiating the resolution of claims, Sumona’s experience, knowledge of insurance law and understanding of various businesses enables her to skillfully and efficiently address matters of the greatest concern to her clients.
Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Sumona worked as in-house counsel to a major insurance carrier. She has counseled major third-party liability and first-party property carriers on insurance matters for more than 10 years.
Representative Matters
Obtained an affirmance by New York‘s Appellate Division, Second Department of a trial court order granting summary judgment to client-insurer in an action involving a slip and fall on a staircase on the premises owned by the client. The trial court considered video depicting the subject accident demonstrated that the allegedly dangerous condition was not a proximate cause of the accident and granted summary judgment.
Obtained an affirmance by New York‘s Appellate Division, Second Department of a trial court order granting summary judgment to our client on the ground that plaintiff did not sustain a serious injury within the meaning of Insurance Law 5102(d).
