Tawana Johnson defends insureds and companies in all phases of litigation, including commercial disputes, contract litigation, intellectual property, data breach, medical malpractice, premises liability, products liability, toxic tort, personal injury claims, professional liability, construction litigation, transportation/trucking, employment litigation and appeals. She has extensive experience handling all aspects of litigation in state and federal courts, appellate litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. 

In the area of professional liability, Tawana regularly defends medical negligence and professional negligence cases on behalf of hospitals, long-term care and assisted living facilities, personal care homes, skilled nursing facilities, hospices, physicians and nurses. In addition, she has defended architects and engineers and construction companies in complex construction defect matters.

Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices
Tawana worked for a major pharmaceutical company for more than five years. She has extensive experience in regulatory matters, including research and development, clinical operations, human clinical trials, drug safety, adverse event reporting, FDA audits, post-marketing surveillance, and product recalls. Tawana has worked with both pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices. Her extensive scientific and technical background is invaluable to clients, and enables her to communicate complex scientific issues to clients, judges, and juries. Tawana’s scientific and technical background has also helped her clients in complex products liability matters. She has successfully defended manufacturers in a broad range of products liability cases, ranging from complex machinery, to smaller component parts, and medical devices.

Employment Law
Tawana represents businesses in all aspects of employment law, including tort and contract claims, defense of EEOC charges, whistleblower claims, employment discrimination and sexual harassment litigation, employee benefits litigation, wage-and-hour issues (including collective action litigation), labor matters, ADA claims, violation of noncompete agreements and retaliation claims. She has also counseled clients during downsizing, and in drafting employment agreements.

Cybersecurity & Data Privacy
Tawana has defended companies against data breach claims as a result of malware and hacking incidents. She has assisted companies with forensic investigations and "intrusion kill chain" tracking to defend computer networks. She also advises clients regarding appropriate IT security measures.
