Victoria J. Cvitanovic represents established businesses, insurance carriers, professional practitioners and individuals in all aspects of civil litigation. Her practice focuses on general liability and personal injury defense, medical malpractice defense and appellate litigation.

Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Victoria served as a prosecutor for the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office where she acted as a screening and appellate attorney before becoming Chief of the Juvenile Division, the youngest assistant district attorney to ever hold a chief position in that office. Victoria also served as a staff attorney for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and as a clerk for the Honorable Judge Joy Cossich Lobrano of the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal.

When she is not practicing law, Victoria devotes her time to advocating for survivors of sexual violence through her involvement with Sexual Trauma Awareness and Response. She also offers yoga, meditation and mindfulness classes for seniors, law enforcement, attorneys, those in chronic pain, and those struggling with anxiety and depression.

Victoria has represented doctors across all specialties in death and catastrophic injury cases from pre-panel proceedings to Louisiana Supreme Court briefs. 

Appellate
Victoria has worked directly for state and federal appellate courts in addition to briefing and presenting oral argument on complex civil litigation, medical malpractice and criminal matters

Representative Matters

Obtained dismissal of action brought under the Malpractice Liability for State Services Act alleging that client breached the medical standard of care in providing ob/gyn services.

Obtained dismissal of action brought under the Malpractice Liability for State Services Act alleging that client breached the medical standard of care in providing surgical services.

Obtained successful appellate result at the Louisiana Fourth Circuit, overturning the grant of opponent's evidentiary motion.

Obtained successful appellate result at the Louisiana Supreme Court resulting in overturning the trial court's denial of a hearing under La. C.Cr.P. art. 313.
