Lori Semlies (Partner-White Plains) will moderate a panel on “Medical & Professional Liability: THC and CBD Risks, Myths and Strategies Impacting Health Care Providers” at the first Business Insurance Cannabis & Hemp Conference to be held October 24−25, 2019, in New York City. This first event of its kind will bring together the insurance and cannabis industries to hear experts from a wide range of companies talk about solutions and provide thought leadership on this emerging issue. Lori’s panel will address various liability risks, including issues involving patient access and qualifying conditions, medical uses and potential adverse effects of THC and CBD, patient safety, quality control and the developing standard of care. Panelists will identify strategies for access to medical marijuana in a hospital setting and how physicians, medical facilities and practitioners in private practice who recommend cannabis to their patients are responding to the new risks.
