Neil Willner (Associate-White Plains) will appear on a panel “The State of the Hemp & CBD Industry,” the second in a six-part series on cannabis and hemp presented by Business Insurance and sponsored by Cannasure Insurance Services and Wilson Elser on May 13, 2020. Joining Neil will be Gary Broadbent, Executive Vice President & General Counsel, GenCanna; Stephen Konigsberg, Director of Business Development and General Counsel, Tikun Olam USA; and Eduardo Provencio, General Counsel, Mary’s Brands. Hemp and CBD exploded in 2019 after passage of the 2018 Farm Bill due to the perceived safety of this new part of the cannabis economy. However, regulatory risks and civil tort exposure are arguably higher for operating in and insuring the hemp and CBD markets compared with the federally illegal marijuana sector. This panel of experienced hemp/CBD operators and risk managers will identify how these risks have grown and what businesses and insurers are doing to continue to operate in consumer markets that will continue to grow.
