Marketing Proposal Writer

Wilson Elser's White Plains office currently seeks a Marketing Proposal Writer.

The Position

The Marketing Proposal Writer combines two principal competencies: persuasive writing and strategic thinking. As an important member of the firm's Business Development and Marketing Department, the Writer will play a key role in the development of client proposals and pitches, implementation of client development initiatives, and other projects related to the pursuit of new business. This includes the creation/aggregation of content for requests for proposal (RFP, RFI, RFQ) and custom brochures, where the ability to understand and effectively communicate the firm's value proposition - both verbally and visually - is a difference-maker.

The Writer will have the ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks under tight deadlines when necessary. He or she must be adaptable, with the ability to respond productively to individualized needs of attorneys. Must be computer proficient, with excellent technological skills including proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications. Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment. Must also work well independently, coordinate projects and maintain communications with various constituencies at all times.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Mass Communications or related field
  • 5+ Years Related Work Experience, preferably for other professional services firms
  • Excellent time management skills and confidence working in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (preferred)
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Strong project coordination skills
  • Strong customer/client service orientation and the ability to think creatively, prioritize, and multi-task
  • Detail oriented, proactive and self-directed

Responsibilities

  • Preparing responses to client Requests for Proposals and Requests for Information, from the initial planning stage to final production and delivery
  • Analyzing solicitation requirements, preparing proposal plan to include required components (graphics, biographies, narrative, etc.), outlining tasks, schedules and responsibilities
  • Collaborating with an attorney or a team of attorneys to develop pursuit win strategies, define and articulate value proposition, and produce professional proposals and related client materials
  • Crafting new content, such as custom cover letters, executive summaries and capabilities statements on a proposal-by-proposal basis
  • Coordinating with other marketing team members as needed to produce required proposal deliverables
  • Working with other firm departments as necessary to prepare responses
  • Researching prospective clients and opportunities to effectively tailor proposal messaging and the related capture strategies
  • Ensuring the firm's vetting (go/no-go), production and quality control processes are followed for all proposal submittals
  • Upholding the firm's brand standards to ensure a strong brand presence for all marketing deliverables
  • Writing/editing stock marketing materials, including case descriptions and attorney biographies
  • Maintaining bank of commonly used proposal content
  • Updating InterAction as necessary according to proposal and client pitch activity
  • Assisting with business development projects, including working with practice groups to research market trends, industries, particular clients or prospects and develop capture strategies
  • Other writing and client research duties as assigned
