Wilson Elser currently seeks a Paralegal to join a fast- paced, successful, team in our New York Midtown office. 

This is an excellent opportunity for those seeking to advance their paralegal career, by gaining an understanding of NY Labor Law §§200, 240(1), 241(6), premise liability, general liability and understanding the anatomy of defense litigation.  This position requires the ability to meet the challenges associated with litigation and the opportunity to work in a team oriented professional environment.

The Position

Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree; paralegal certificate preferred 
  • 1-3 years New York State litigation experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Legal Research (Lexis, Westlaw) proficiency preferred
  • Medical Record interpretation and summaries preferred

Responsibilities

  • Investigator interaction: including evaluation of claim needs in line with goals, and communication and supervision of investigation process
  • Interact with client contacts for information, document, and witness information gathering, evaluation, and assessment as bears on investigation and discovery process and resolution strategies
  • Written discovery preparation and compliance supervision -- internal and external
  • Witness interaction for critical information gathering, and deposition process
  • Medical record interpretation, evaluation, and summarization of contents as matters to critical liability, damages, and discovery issues
  • Discovery and substantive motion support, such as drafting and preparing, as commensurate with skill set
