Courtland Parker Spotts is a Texas civil defense attorney who handles litigation involving motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, and personal injury claims. He manages matters from pre-suit investigation through resolution.

Courtland’s practice includes evaluating liability and damages and developing defense strategies based on the facts and posture of each case. He assesses claims from both legal and operational perspectives and advances matters toward resolution.

Before joining Wilson Elser, Courtland practiced civil defense in private practice and served as counsel for a construction company, where he managed premises liability and consumer claims and supported residential construction projects under the Texas General Land Office’s Hurricane Harvey program.

During law school, Courtland served as a judicial intern to the late Honorable Thad Heartfield of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and completed internships with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office and the office of U.S. Senator Ted Cruz.

A native of Beaumont, Courtland completed three summers of academic study in Europe across 14 countries, including programs in international law, comparative legal systems, and EU governance.

He has provided pro bono assistance through a guardianship clinic and earned recognition for his compassion in handling sensitive client matters with professionalism and sound judgment.

Courtland is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and is active in the American Inns of Court, the Jefferson County Bar Association, the Jefferson County Young Lawyers Association, and the Texas Association of Defense Counsel.
