Danielle Maffei represents municipalities, government entities, and law enforcement entities, including police and corrections officers employed through these agencies, in all aspects of civil litigation. Her practice focuses on the defense of claims involving negligence, civil rights actions under 42 USC § 1983, and litigation related to Fourth Amendment search and seizure violations. Danielle prides herself on conducting thorough case assessments and resolving cases before trial, when appropriate.
Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Danielle gained valuable litigation experience as a prosecutor in the Westchester County District Attorney's Office in White Plains, New York, where she managed a large caseload of assaults, larcenies, and driving while intoxicated cases and handled numerous cases that ultimately went to trial.
During law school, Danielle served as a mediation intern, gaining hands-on experience working with clients to assess their interests and needs, prepare them for mediation, and compile relevant information, case law, and statutes to support effective mediation discussions.
