Michael Secret (Associate-McLean, VA) presented “What to Expect When You’re Exporting” at the West Virginia State Bar Labor and Employment Committee’s CLE Seminar held on March 27, 2024, in Charleston, West Virginia. Michael, along with his co-presenter Kirk Auvil of the Employment Law Center, discussed challenges faced by attorneys in dealing with e-discovery issues such as social media discovery, retrieving information from smartphones and clients’ document retention policies. Specifically related to employment, Michael demonstrated the usefulness of being proficient in e-Discovery techniques and further addressed concerns regarding the intersection of social media discovery and the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct.
