Raúl Chacón (Partner-Miami) will present the session “Death from a Prop Strike” at the American Boat and Yacht Council Marine Law Symposium, to be held April 1-2, 2026, in Annapolis, Maryland. Raúl examines a real-world product liability defense matter in which he stepped in as lead trial counsel some six months before trial to represent a boat manufacturer/designer in litigation involving the death of a 12-year-old boy who was fatally struck by a propeller. Attendees will learn how the Wilson Elser team leveraged physical evidence, accident reconstruction, occupant kinematics, and key industry standards to rebut claims of defective design, manufacture, and warnings, and to demonstrate that responsibility rested with vessel operation rather than the product itself.
