Shepperd (Partner-Houston, TX) will present “Defending Never Events: An Overview for Claims Specialists,” a Wilson Elser Forum webinar, on August 22, 2024. “Never events” refers generally to preventable occurrences so egregious that they should never occur. But when they do, litigation often follows. John’s presentation and the accompanying paper address the many types of never events in the medical and hospital setting, the measures taken to prevent them, the reasons why they still occur despite preventative measures, how there are valued by claims professionals and how they are litigated. Special emphasis is placed on defense/settlement strategies that should be considered by the claims specialist in conjunction with defense counsel.
