Eugene Boulé (Partner-New York) will speak on a panel on “Dipping into the Secret Sauce: Preparing for and Responding to Challenges in Mediation” at the CLM’s 2020 Annual Conference to be held March 18−20, 2020, in Grapevine, Texas. Eugene and the panel will discuss a qualitative study of the mediation dynamic in litigated disputes, in which attorneys, mediators and insurance claims professionals were asked to identify and explain the “challenges” they face in the mediation process. The answers included varied perceptions of mediation's fundamental elements, such as what it means to prepare for and engage in meaningful settlement discussions, how each professional approaches and manages competitive bargaining, and what are some of the most effective techniques to break an impasse.
