Jodi Terranova (Partner-Washington, DC) will serve as moderator for the panel “Pulling Back the Curtain: Demystifying the Legal Defense of Assisted Living Facilities vs. Skilled Nursing Facilities” at the DRI 2025 Senior Living & Long-Term Care Litigation Seminar, to be held September 10–12, 2025, in Austin, Texas. This session will explore the unique challenges and strategies involved in defending assisted living facilities compared with skilled nursing facilities from the perspective of defense counsel as well as an owner/operator of an assisted living facility. Attendees will gain insights into the legal, regulatory, and operational distinctions between the two types of care settings, and how these differences impact defense strategies in litigation. The panel will discuss practical approaches to navigate the complexities of each setting while ensuring effective risk management.
