Kurt W. Krauss (Partner-Madison, NJ) will serve as moderator for a panel titled “The Civil Sex Abuse Case: A Trial & Insurance Update” to be held on April 24, 2024, at the New Jersey Law Center and available online. Kurt will discuss representing institutions and individuals from the defense perspective. In addition to a criminal case that may be brought against the perpetrator of sexual abuse, the victim may pursue a civil action. Handling these civil cases, however, can present a unique challenge. This panel will address the civil cause of action, defenses to sexual abuse claims against institutions and individual clients, and the liability and insurance issues that follow. Both experienced and new attorneys will gain valuable insights on recourse available to victims of sex abuse for trauma, physical pain, emotional pain and more.
