Valerie Kellner (Of Counsel-Philadelphia) will moderate the panel “The Mindful Legal Department: Preventing, Noticing and Addressing Burnout” at the FDCC 2024 Corporate Counsel Symposium held on September 15–17 at the Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans. The panel explores the meaning, nature and causes of attorney burnout in light of a recent ABA survey indicating that lawyers experience the condition 52 percent of the time in their jobs. Valerie’s panel looks at moving beyond traditional wellness and self-care remedies and placing the onus on legal departments to examine the underlying issues generating burnout within their organizations and the legal profession. The panel provides practical advice for legal departments on recognizing, preventing and addressing burnout using a mindful teams-based approach.
