Daniel Tranen (Partner-St. Louis, MO) will join a panel titled “There's Something in the Water: PFAS Strikes Again” at CPCU’s 2024 In2Risk Conference “Reach New Heights,” to be held November 6–9, 2024, at Florida’s Walt Disney World® Resort. This panel will discuss the U.S. and global implications of PFAS from legal, environmental, and insurance perspectives. PFAS are “forever chemicals” that have had massive exposure on a global level over the past 80 years. These chemicals are found in most people’s bloodstreams and are starting to be linked to certain types of cancers. Dan and the panel will discuss the regulation of forever chemicals now and with the changing of administrations; provide an update on the litigation and its focus on evidence of causation to prove exposure and injury from particular sources; and discuss where insurers are on covering this exposure and how policy forms are changing.
