Gene Csakany focuses his practice on the defense of claims involving complex tort and general casualty, transportation, premises liability, product liability, property damage, and construction. Among his regular clients are global, national, and local transportation companies; national retailers; general contractors and subcontractors; product manufacturers; and commercial property owners and managers. Additionally, Gene is well-versed in litigating first- and third-party claims involving bad faith, uninsured/underinsured motorist benefits, and construction defects.

Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Gene worked at a mid-size defense firm litigating a wide array of claims, including motor vehicle, premises, and product liability matters. He began his legal career as a mediator in the municipal and juvenile courts of Toledo, Ohio, where he assisted adverse parties in working toward resolving various personal injury, property damage, domestic violence, and criminal matters. This work provided Gene with valuable insight into the inner workings of judicial proceedings, as well as exposure to civil tort claims that he now routinely handles.

Before attending law school, Gene worked in the Sponsorship Department of the New Jersey Devils, collaborating with corporate partners and team personnel, as well as assisting with gameday operations and player interactions.
