Colby Smith defends workers’ compensation claims and serves as counsel to human resources managers, corporate counsel and risk managers to help avoid unnecessary claims and reduce the number of those that, notwithstanding strong risk management protocols, are unavoidable. Colby and other Wilson Elser practice attorneys deliver presentations and conduct on-site workshops on the fundamentals and nuances of workers’ compensation matters and the regulatory landscape.
Colby’s experience includes work on the respondent side of workers’ compensation claims for many years at his prior firm. In addition, he is the former Executive Director of the Delaware River Mill Society and has worked for the New Jersey Public Defender’s Office as well as the Newark Public Defender’s Office.
Committed to advocating for diversity in the legal profession, Colby serves as the cochair of Wilson Elser’s LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group.
