John R. Shepperd (Partner-Houston, TX) will present on “Never Events” at the February 27, 2024, meeting of the Houston CPCU Chapter. Never Events are medical mishaps considered egregious yet 100 percent preventable; they include operating on the wrong body part, operating room fires and giving the patient the wrong blood type, to name a few. Yet these events occur again and again. John will focus on why Never Events occur in spite of specific policies and practices in effect to prevent them, how they can be prevented and how to defend against claims when litigation ensues.
