Virtual

People: Judy C. Selmeci

Judy C. Selmeci (Partner-New York, NY) has been asked by a major hospital system in the New York Metro area to co-present one session (April 30, 2025) in a series of client-mandated CLE lectures (April 28-30, 2025) for hundreds of risk managers and malpractice defense attorneys concerning discovery privileges relating to quality assurance activities in healthcare. Judy’s two-hour CLE will cover the legislative framework for such privileges under New York’s Education and Public Health Laws and the federal Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act. Judy and her co-presenter, Caryn Lilling of Mauro Lilling Naparty LLP, will review New York courts’ treatment of the applicable statutes, summarize the lessons learned locally and nationally about asserting these privileges, and provide practice pointers for litigating them in New York’s state and federal courts.
