Justin Knight focuses his practice on managed care litigation, representing health plans, health maintenance organizations, independent practice associations, third-party administrators, and other health care clients in complex disputes. He works with Wilson Elser’s national Life, Health, Disability & ERISA Practice on matters involving ERISA, including benefit denial claims, as well as non-ERISA benefit disputes, provider reimbursement and contract disputes, and regulatory matters.

Justin has more than five years of litigation experience, including managed care defense at an international law firm and a California boutique firm. He has drafted summary judgment and other dispositive motions, discovery motions, and arbitration briefs in state and federal matters. His experience also includes managing all phases of discovery, coordinating with expert witnesses, preparing matters for trial, and working directly with clients on case assessments.

Earlier in his career, Justin represented plaintiffs in employment litigation at another California law firm, where he took and defended depositions, participated in mediations, and negotiated settlements. As a law clerk, he worked on medical malpractice, tort, bankruptcy, disability rights, and employment matters at the nonprofits Disability Rights California and Legal Aid at Work. He also served as a small claims mediator for the San Francisco Superior Court.

As an undergraduate, Justin was an editor at The Daily Californian, the independent, student-run newspaper at the University of California, Berkeley, where he developed his writing and editing skills. He is admitted to practice in California and Louisiana.
