Dennis J. Rhodes (Of Counsel-San Francisco) presented “Fair or Foul: Defending UTPA and UIPA Claims” at the 2019 DRI Life, Health, Disability and ERISA Conference held April 3−5, 2019, in Chicago, Illinois. Insurance companies face claims of unfair trade and unfair settlement practices that arise merely because of the existence of legislation plaintiffs often use as a springboard for lawsuits. Dennis discussed issues that arise in defending such claims and recommended litigation strategies.
