Hattar Named Co-chair of New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Women in the Law Awards Subcommittee

hattarJacqueline Hattar (Partner-White Plains) has been named co-chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Women in the Law (CWIL) Awards Subcommittee. In this position, Jackie will oversee the nomination process and selection of CWIL’s annual award recipients. These awards include (1) the Ruth G. Schapiro Memorial Award, which honors bar members who have made a noteworthy contribution to the concerns of women through pro bono work, writing or service to bar associations or community organizations, and (2) the Kay Crawford Murray Award, which honors women bar members committed to diversity in the legal profession.

Established in 1986, the CWIL is charged with responsibility for identifying, studying and making recommendations to address gender bias and law-related issues affecting women. The committee proposes legislation, promotes the adoption and implementation of policy by the Executive Committee and House of Delegates of the New York State Bar Association, and undertakes other actions to help ensure the fair treatment of women under law and the full participation of women in the administration of justice and as equal members of the legal community. The committee is a standing committee of the Association, as designated by the House of Delegates in 1989.
