March 31, 2016

Heather Austin (Of Counsel-Philadelphia) was honored at the Madam CJ Walker Awards Luncheon hosted by the Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. held on March 19, 2016, at the Loews Hotel, Philadelphia.  Heather was named as a member of the President’s Circle, in recognition of her efforts in helping to make the luncheon a success.

The event attracted approximately 700 attendees including Mayor Jim Kenney, Philadelphia city council members, judges from the Court of Common Pleas, retired judges from various courts and leading businesswomen from the region. Members of the state and federal legislative branches also attended.

This two-part event began with a complimentary “My Worth is My Power” economic empowerment seminar that focused on recognizing, understanding, valuing and investing in oneself.  Heather was involved in the planning of the seminar, as well as the luncheon that followed immediately.  The luncheon highlights the achievements of African American women who have demonstrated excellence in entrepreneurial efforts and community outreach in the Delaware Valley Area.  In addition to recognizing local-area business owners, the Coalition provided three young ladies with educational scholarships and laptop computers.
