Park to Emcee MinKwon's 32nd Anniversary Gala

Sun Ah (Michelle) Park (Associate-White Plains) will co-emcee 2016 32nd Anniversary Gala for MinKwon Center for Community Action on October 13, 2016 in Flushing, NY. Michelle has been involved with MinKwon’s affiliate organization for more 15 years and is currently serving as the board of directors of MinKwon Center.  The MinKwon Center works to serve the marginalized populations of the Korean American and Asian American communities of greater New York to achieve social justice, economic empowerment, and civic engagement for these communities. The Gala is a way to celebrate the work of the organization while raising money to support its vital programming. 

Program highlights from 2015 include: 

  • Provided nearly $7 million in legal and social services for 5,500 low-income community members
  • Filed more than 1,000 DACA applications and renewals for Asian-American youth protecting them from deportation since 2012
  • Co-led the Flushing Rezoning Community Alliance, which resulted in the Flushing West rezoning being put on hold until the community's needs are addressed by the city planning department
  • Reached a milestone of registering 70,000 voters since 2004.
